It’s totally understandable if you think living in a rental apartment means you’re pretty much stuck with the bathroom and kitchen you’ve got. After all, even if you’re able to paint with permission from your landlord, cabinets, tiles, and flooring are all permanent items. However, if you’re willing to get creative, you can absolutely give these spaces reversible, renter-friendly makeovers.

The pandemic had a massive impact on the way we see our lives and many of us had to make the shift to working or schooling remotely. Constantly sitting at the same desk or looking at the same wall can leave us feeling sick and tired. No wonder that so many people had the irresistible desire to tear everything down and re-do their living spaces out of sheer boredom.

In Yamilet Litman’s home, the primary bathroom almost scared her away from closing on the house. “My reaction to the bathroom when we walked in was, ‘I do not picture myself using this bathroom. I don’t think I can do it,'” Yamilet says. “Although that was probably an exaggeration, the bathroom had truly seen better days.

Take this bathroom belonging to Emily Lothert (@re.recreate). “When we moved into this house, it was so dated and poorly kept up. Every room needed a lot of love,” Emily says. In the case of the bathroom, while the size was generous, the bathroom felt dark and dim thanks to a combination of beige tile floors, dark wood finishes, and a blah paint color that did nothing for the space.
