1967 Pontiac - illus Fitzpatrick & van Kaufman
Chevrolet advertisement for the 1961 Corvair Monza. This was quite a remarkable automobile. It featured a rear six-cylinder air-cooled boxer engine. It got about 24 miles-per-gallon. With its 82 horse-power it could reach 60 mph in 21 seconds. Top speed was just over 85. Ralph Nader preyed upon it, and American manufacturers retreated from rear-engine cars.
