In Gallo-Roman (1st c, BC-5th c. AD) times archaeological discoveries suggest very wide tunics allowing a drape or blousé with the addition of a belt. It is unclear if this is a Roman influence or an indigenous habit. The gundesrup cauldron suggests the tunics, dresses and braies were worn close to the body, but that may be the result of aesthetic bias or a local fashion. This cauldron dated from the 2nd century BC was found in Jutland in a bog, it would have been developed in Central Europe.
