It is the only living representative of the once-diverse family Dugongidae; its closest modern relative, Steller’s sea cow 💙 By 📷 @mahmoud_diving_instructor

iO Conservancy 🦋 on Instagram: "Did you know that in some cases people have been recorded climbing onto dead whales when they were being fed upon sharks!? Crazy, right?
⠀
Many countries have laws to prevent people getting to close to live whales and dolphins, but may  not have expected to need laws about dead ones😂
⠀
In this video the film-maker described the tiger shark as being 3.5 - 4  metres (about 13 feet) in length. Therefore, you can see how huge the whale is! Sperm whales can reach lengths of 18 metres or 60 feet.

CKWP on Instagram: "This morning 3/17/24 we received a report from @blueoceanwhalewatch that they were with the CA140Bs “Louise’s” family, we wanted to show you this interesting documentation our drone pilot Evan Brodsky filmed who was aboard the Monterey Bay whale watch vessel Blackfin of them getting curious about a blue shark (they did not touch it or eat it). The prey for Bigg’s killer whales are marine mammals. However, we have documented them getting curious about and harass salmon and Mola mola before (not ingest them), so this may have been similar to that. As the killer whales were swimming, the blue shark was in their path. When they got near, the shark got startled and swam quickly away and the killer whales turned curiously to look at it. What a rare and lucky documentation and False Killer Whale, Odd Creatures, Whale Video, Ocean Life Photography, Mola Mola, Shark Photos, Marine Wildlife, Shark Pictures, Amazing Animal Pictures
