Dark academia art studio

Partners Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch formed their Roman & Williams design studio – named after their grandfathers – in New York in 2002. Over the last decade they have become some of the most influential, and consistently ripped off, designers in the US. Their vintage, dark Gotham aesthetic mixes elements of wooden Victoriana and edgy deco with white tenement tiling, raw industrial fittings, tropical modernism and antique ephemera, all with a distinctive rough luxe patina.
