BiCoTa – Episode #5 – Claude Young Jr

In this fifth livestream episode of Bitwig Community Talks on Odo Sendaidokai’s YouTube channel, we Odo Sendaidokai] and Jürgen Mossgraber spoke with Claude Young Jr from Detroit (USA), a legendary DJ, music producer, Bitwig Certified Trainer and a Detroit original.

Claude talked about growing up in Detroit with a father who was the first black radio DJ to play a wide variety of music. He recounted meeting famous personalities such as David Bowie, Elton John, Falco, and many more. He also discussed how he went to Australia to work instead of Ritchie Hawtin.

His life journey from Detroit to London, Hamburg, Berlin, Tokyo, and now back to Detroit is peppered with many interesting stories and wonderful people such as Takasi Nakajima Daniell Bell, Robert Hood, Anthony Shakir , Christian Vogel, Westbam, and many well-known names from the 90s techno scene who are still active today.

We talked a bit about Bitwig and the new version 6, which is still in beta, and we also geeked out about various controllers and workflows. But listen for yourself and, above all, subscribe to his exclusive social media account on Bluesky and, of course, his YouTube channel.

Because there’s a lot in the pipeline on YouTube and maybe even in the real world, with a real place where the community can meet. Keep your fingers crossed or help out so that Claude can come to Superbooth in Berlin.

It was a great pleasure to talk to Claude. He’s a wonderful person with a very infectious positive vibe that we should all try to emulate, at least a little bit.

BiCoTa – Episode #4 – Italo Brutalo

In this fourth livestream episode of Bitwig Community Talks on Jürgen Moosgrabers YouTube channel, we (Odo Sendaidokai and Jürgen Mossgraber) with Vincent aka „Italo Brutalo“ from Berlin and Passau.

Vincent talked about his beginnings in music, how hip hop and rap such as Run DMC and Public Enemy shaped him in the early 1990s. Since there was no internet back then, he had to teach himself everything through trial and error. From scratching, the Korg DTM 110, to discovering the game-changing pitch fader on his first Technics turntable, the sampler Akai S2000 Sampler, Akai S3200 Sampler (with High Pass Filter) , Cubase on Atari 1040 ST to his first album releases in the mid-1990s.

Vincent has a very interesting car, namely K.I.T.T. from the 1980s series Knight Rider with David Hasselhoff, and the car can be seen on his album covers and in his videos from time to time. He tells us how and where he got it in his very personable way.

He recently released his latest album, “Second Horizon,” not just once, but several times (on vinyl, Bandcamp, and other streaming platforms). And remixes of this album are coming out one after another. He also gave away three albums to people in the very active live chat. Congratulations to the winners!

We talked about the gear and hardware Vincent uses and how he only discovered his love for effects after a long time. And, of course, he also told us about his live performances. What setup he uses and why he uses these particular devices.

What’s next for Vincent “Italo Brutalo”

Many thanks to Vincent Vincent “Italo Brutalo” for his time and this wonderful interview, his perspective and his insights into the big world of music, music production, the DJ world and sound tinkerers. And hopefully see you soon.

We also came up with a few things we would like to see in Bitwig. We’re not sure if all of them will be included in the Bitwig Beta 6 version coming out on August 27, 2025, but maybe they will be in a later version.

Feature Wishes for Bitwig

Bitwig Wishes – Mono, pitch correction (ARA), drag and drop Linux, automation drawing improvements, exchange between automation and MSEGs, audio routing, better automatic coloring, more automatic labeling (bouncing), more intelligent bouncing (using the same target audio track), classic v1 kick retrigger, monitoring room, slicing in the sampler.

BiCoTa – Episode #3 – Creating Spaces

In this third livestream episode of the Bitwig Community Talk on Odo Sendaidokai’s YouTube channel, we (Odo Sendaidokai and Jürgen Mossgraber) talked to Wim from Belgium, who is known as Creating Spaces.

Wim switched from Ableton to Bitwig for his live sets. He runs a YouTube channel Creating Spaces Producer . There you can find videos of how he sets up his live set and you can also listen to some of his live sets.

A special feature of his live sets is a self-developed Bitwig extension called BitX. The idea comes from an already existing tool ClyphX .

Simply put, BitX allows you to write commands instead of just giving clips a name, telling Bitwig what to do when the clip is called up. For example, presets or drum racks can be loaded, the BPM changed or a message window displayed. Of course, the extension recognises many more commands and is being continuously developed.

Wim has several videos about the BitX extension on his YouTube channel, in which he explains how it works step by step.

Wim presented his idea that he would like to see many more live meetings and concerts organised by artists. So that everyone from beginners to professionals can perform. As a kind of grassroots movement for self-organised concerts and maker spaces. A bit like the EMOM (Electronic Musicians Open Mic) coming from the UK.

Many thanks to Wim ‘Creating Spaces’ for this wonderful conversation and his perspective on music, Bitwig and the community.

BiCoTa – Episode #2 – Polarity

In this second episode that took place on Jürgen Moßgrabers YouTube Channel we could welcome Polarity also known as PolarityMusic , who is probably the most known person in the Bitwig Community. He is creating Videos, Tutorials, Livestreams mostly in englisch, but here and there as well in german. And as well he is creating Presets, Grid Patches, Generative Music, replication of already existing plugins with Bitwig tools, talking about music and music theory and encouraging people to make music and much more. He operates a Discord Channel, several web sites, some YouTube and Twitch Channels and as well a Fediverse Mastodon server. Lately he created a script to enhance the Bitwig Pianoroll possibilities. I surely forgot a lot more things, but you should go and figure it out for yourself.

We realized that the time between the two episodes was far too long and will of course bring it back to the originally promised time frame. And we will continue to stream alternately on the YouTube channel of Odo Sendaidokai and Jürgen Moßgraber.
