Jean-Michel Basquiat's productive career spanned just one short decade, yet he is considered one of the best-known artists of his generation and one of only a small number of Hispanic-African-American artists to have achieved international recognition.

Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960 – 1988) was an American artist. He gained popularity first as a graffiti artist in New York City, and then as a 1980s-era Neo-expressionist artist. Basquiat's paintings continue to influence modern-day artists and command high prices.

Much of Jean-Michel Basquiat's art seems like that of one's inner child. Thus a "sweet" name like "Pez Dispenser" evokes child hood nostalgia. Note his signature crown dawned upon what looks like a T - Rex, the king of Dinosaurs.
