UC Davis Health is a major driver of economic prosperity for both the Sacramento region and California. According to a study of pre-pandemic data, in 2019 UC Davis Health expenditures led to a total economic impact of $4.60 billion for the seven-county local region – an additional $1.08 for every dollar UC Davis Health spent. UC Davis Health had 11,600 employees in the region, and economic activity generated indirectly and by their spending supported an additional 14,600 jobs. The report also calculates UC Davis Health’s statewide economic and employment impacts.

Nurses

The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis advances health and ignites leadership through innovative education, transformative research and bold system change. Founded by the nation’s largest grant for nursing education in 2007, leaders at the school develop programs that keep pace with ever-evolving health care and educate a new breed of nurse leaders.

The School of Nursing’s visionary leadership propels research in five focus areas: chronic disease management, health technology, pain management, Healthy People and Healthy Systems. Faculty come from a wide range of backgrounds including nursing, business administration, sociology, gerontology, medicine, information technology and psychology. School of Nursing students engage in classrooms and clinical environments with students in the School of Medicine, health informatics and those in other health-related programs.
