Welcome to my LJ, such that it is. As a card carrying member of both the Sad & Single Club, as well as Hermits United I tend to be more of a lurker in comms more often than not. I tend to friend author's who fanfic I love or folks I feel I have something in common with; feel free to friend me back, though no hard feelings if you don't. In RL I live in my grandparents' former home and work in the medical technology field at my local hospital. Feel free to friend me, though most of my (infrequent!) posts are random rants and ramblings about my so-called life. I will typically friend anyone back who friends me, I'm easy that way :D

Were you named after anyone? My middle name is the same as my mom's and her mom's.
Do you wish on stars? Sometimes if I’m feeling silly or whimsical.
Do you have a journal? Yes. If I actually use it is an entirely different question.
Do you use sarcasm a lot? Sarcasm? No, I would never!
What is your least favorite thing about yourself? My shyness & introverted-ness.
What do you miss most? My grandparents.
Winter or summer? Autumn, no contest. Though if I *had* to choose - summer because I hate being too cold more than I hate being too hot.
Hugs or kisses? Both...and quite frequently please! ;)
What is your favorite dessert? Good homemade apple pie, with vanilla ice cream.
What books are you reading? I tend to go on author binges; Dean Koontz is my current fixation.
Favorite smells? Vanilla, Almond, and/or Cinnamon (yes, I know - BORING!) ;-)
Favorite sound? A child’s giggle.
What's the furthest you've been from your home? An orphanage in Ivanovo, Russia.
When did you last cry? Huh. Really truly actually cry, not just feel like crying? Day after Thanksgiving when my baby niece was heading back to NJ with my sister. They live too far away (8 hour drive) and it makes me sad that I won’t get to see her growing up.
Do you like your handwriting? I don’t hate it, but I’m a lefty so it’s not particularly neat.
If you were another person, would you be friends with you? Dunno, what type of person would my other self be?
What are your nicknames? My family (and one odd random friend) calls me Shelly. At work I am also called Pixie or Pyxis Queen. Tom & Noah call me HalfTime, which is a long but humorous story :D
Would you bungee jump? Not for all the money in the world. Unless I was being paid a great deal of money (somewhere in the billions) AND I was unconscious and heavily medicated. Maybe then.
Do you untie your shoes before you take them off? On the rare occasion when I actually wear shoes that have laces, no way!
Do you think that you are strong? Physically, nope. Emotionally, not at the moment but I’m working on it. Mentally, yup. And don’t even start to think about messing with my self-control! ;-)
What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Hmmm. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my favorite “you can find it most places” flavor or Mint Chocolate Chip if it’s really hot out. Ben & Jerry’s Vermonty Python is my ultimate fav, though. *UPDATE* Mission to Marzipan - utterly fantastic! :)
Red or pink? Oh, such a loaded question. For the longest time I detested anything resembling pink because growing up my sister and I shared a bedroom with pink walls, pink carpet, pink curtains, and pink gingham bedspreads & canopies. Just the thought of pink made me want to gag. But I actually look quite fetching in both red and pink, so I’m over it now. Sort of.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be? I’m not sure I’m qualified to make that decision, but my favorite color is just on the blue side of teal and just a bit deeper.
The first thing you notice about the opposite sex? Their laugh/voice with eyes a very close second.
Favorite drink? Pretty much any combination of coffee, chocolate and/or alcohol. Currently it’s hot chocolate with a dash of Disarrono Amaretto. Midori Sours are fantastic too.
Favorite day of the year? It’s a close toss up between Thanksgiving and Christmas; depends on which one my sister & her family will be coming to visit with my niece.
Scary movies or happy endings? Scary movies WITH happy endings! I’m a HUGE fan of “…and they Lived Happily Ever After.” Life sucks and is terrifying enough as it is, why would I want to watch something that would give me yet another reason I can’t fall asleep at night? *cough* Damn you Torchwood! *snifflecough*
