Guru Pig is less a sage, more a dedicated, paint-fume-powered hobbyist, whose ‘guruship’ comes from an impressive, and frankly terrifying, mountain of unpainted miniatures (the “Pillars of Potential”). His blog chronicles this epic struggle, mixing tactical insight with the desperate cry of a man realizing he needs yet another shade of gray.
Where he truly shines is in rules-writing. He chases the impossible dream: creating rules that are simple, quick, and fun, but only after consulting every obscure historical logistics manual known to man. Ultimately, the Guru Pig is the man who manages to turn the wargaming hobby into both an art form and an existential crisis.

Hi
I’m a historian of the frontier wars. Were you friends with Rolf Grein? He was very helpful to me and did some amazing work on frontier wars figures. I saw your post on Jack Drake’s book. I knew Jack and helped him with his book.
I wrote a book with partly the wargaming community in mind: How They Fought, which as far as I know is the first full account of Indigenous war tactics/ organization in Australia. I’d be happy for you to review it if you haven’t already and can send you a copy.

The Frontier Wars had been a long forgotten and one-sided story.
