In 2012, a independent nail varnish brand called Mint was launched in LA. Most nail varnishes are made using Dibutyl Phthalte, Formaldehyde and Toulene which are harmful to the environment. Mint polishes where made without these substances to be kinder on nails and the environment. The company appears to have folded since 2012, but the choice of the colour on the packaging fits with the brands eco credentials as well as the companies attempt to take a 'fresh' approach to nail varnish.

Because green takes up a large proportion of the visible light colour spectrum, there are many different shades and tones. Whilst in general green implies a connection with nature, growth and peace, a darker green may feel more masculine and remind viewers of a forest whilst a bright neon green may feel unnatural and energetic and less soothing to look at. This means that brands wanting to use the colour green need to consider who their audience is and what their brand identity is.
Garnier is one brand that is strongly associated with the colour green. The bright green used by this brand implies cleanliness, health and growth – essential for products intended for washing – whilst also appearing energetic to attract a younger market.
