Tryggestad recently became a member of the newly established Norwegian UN Association Advisory Board. In addition, she also recently became a member of the Norwegian Student’s Peace Prize Committee and the Editorial Board of a new international book series called the Women, Peace and Security Series.
New international WPS book series On 5 February GPS Centre Director Torunn L. Tryggestad attended the first online meeting of the Editorial Board of a new international book series called the Women, Peace and Security Series, which will be published by De Gruyter Press. The book series has been initiated by professors Jacqui True (director) and Sara E. Davies (deputy director), Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW), Monash University. UN Association Advisory Board Membership On 19 March the inaugural meeting of the Norwegian UN Association’s Advisory Board was organised. PRIO GPS Centre director is one of 12 members of the Advisory Board, which comprises of researchers and experts on multilateralism and UN affairs. The Advisory Board is scheduled to meet four times during 2024, to discuss and provide input to UN Association staff on pressing issues. More information can be found here (in Norwegian). Student Peace Prize Committee Dr. Torunn L. Tryggestad was invited by the Norwegian Student’s Peace Prize to join the committee that will select the winner of the Student Peace Prize 2024. The Student Peace Prize is awarded biannually to a student or student organizations working for peace, human rights and democracy. This is the fourth time that Tryggestad serves on the committee. The committee will meet in August to select the winner. The members of this year’s Peace Prize Committee are: Selma Bratberg (committee leader), Kaja Ingdal Hovdenak (deputy leader), Bård Vegar Solhjell, Dalin Malek, Erik Fosse, Linn Stalsberg, Nazret Belay, Nora Rymoen Houidi, Sofie Karlgård and Torunn L. Tryggestad. Kilden’s Advisory Board On 11 April GPS Centre Director Torunn L. Tryggestad also attended this year’s first meeting of Kilden’s Advisory Board.
