<p>APM Server exposes an API endpoint that allows agents to query the server for configuration changes.
More information on this feature is available in <a href="/guide/en/kibana/7.15/agent-configuration.html" class="ulink" target="_top">APM Agent configuration in Kibana</a>.</p>
<p>Starting with release 7.14, agent configuration can be declared directly within
<code class="literal">apm-server.yml</code>. Requests to the endpoint are unchanged; <code class="literal">apm-server</code> responds
directly without querying kibana for the agent configuration. Refer to the
example in <code class="literal">apm-server.yml</code> under Agent Configuration.</p>

<p>The Agent configuration endpoint accepts both <code class="literal">HTTP GET</code> and <code class="literal">HTTP POST</code> requests.
If an <a class="xref" href="api-key.html" title="API keys">API keys</a> or <a class="xref" href="secret-token.html" title="Secret token">Secret token</a> has been configured, it will also apply to this endpoint.</p>
