Describe the request
... since it seems we can't copy-n-paste reliably from large amounts of output in the serial monitor. Much of the time all we want to copy it for is to paste it into an editor and save it. A separate terminal program can be used, but it doesn't integrate nicely (and you can't easily send input to the arduino)

There is no ability to log the serial output to a file.

Hi @gilesp1729. Thanks for taking the time to submit an issue.
I see we have another report about this at #549.
It is best to have only a single issue per subject so we can consolidate all relevant discussion to one place, so I'll go ahead and close this in favor of the other.
