This diagram shows how passive ventilation can be utilized differently depending on the season. when it's winter the warm air is trapped to provide insulation & in the summer the warm air is flushed. cool air is constantly flowing through. I think it is successful because of how the air movement ribbons are a gradient to accurately show warm + cool air. Having the summer & winter conditions next to each other is a successful use of showing the passive design during different times of the year. Passive Heating Techniques - Free download as Powerpoint Presentation (.ppt / .pptx), PDF File (.pdf), Text File (.txt) or view presentation slides online. Passive solar design uses sunlight to heat buildings without mechanical devices. There are three main approaches: direct gain, indirect gain, and isolated gain. Direct gain involves south-facing windows and thermal mass to store heat. Indirect gain uses elements like Trombe walls between windows and living spaces to absorb and transfer…

This diagram depicts how an atrium can utilize both cross ventilation and the stack effect on a multi-story building by allowing cross ventilation to occur at the lower levels and allowing the rising hot air to escape through gaps in the ceiling, This diagram is easy to understand and read by following the arrows to understand how the air will circulate through the space.
