While this is far from true, let me reiterate: ALL artists should learn to draw. A transfer will never compensate for poor drawing skills, no matter how detailed it is. This technique is not new. The oil transfer (and other similar transfer methods) have been utilized for centuries by some of the greatest masters in history. Many of these ancient transfer techniques would damage or destroy an artist’s original drawing in the process (pouncing, for example). This method (printing a copy of your drawing first) saves time when scaling to a larger canvas size — without the need to destroy your original drawing. Painting all the cracked paint and wood was not an easy task and being me I couldn’t just simplify things and make it easy…. The bird was the easy part 😂 hopefully I’m not painting any backgrounds like this for awhile now. Happy to say the client is very happy with how this commission turned out."
