DIY Antique School Wall Chart I have a real fondness for antique school primers and am always on the lookout for them. I love the simple, sweet illustrations in them, and am very drawn to the alphabet pages and pages that show the diacritical marks that helped young pupils to learn to read. For many years the hand which we know today as ‘Copperplate’ was called ‘Roundhand’. Unfortunately that name is now sometimes used by calligraphers as an alternative for the ‘Foundational Hand’ first developed and popularised by Edward Johnston.
