This lesson just happened to at the right time during the Winter Olympics, which was really a lucky coincidence. Nonetheless fun! As part of the Art Curriculum 2nd graders are to study architecture so I decided to look at that of Russia, in particular St. Basil's Cathedral. Third grade used warm and cool colors and pattern to create these tempera paintings. The students viewed artwork by native people and how their hand print was not only a record of who they were or where they had traveled, but also a way to sign their art.
