The Lovers Whirlwind, 1824 - 1827 - William Blake
Portrait of Pedro I of Brazil & IV of Portugal, 1902 by Benedito Calixto (1853-1927). Dom Pedro I,(1798-1834) nicknamed "the Liberator", was the founder and first ruler of the Empire of Brazil. As King Dom Pedro IV, he reigned briefly over Portugal, where he also became known as "the Liberator" as well as "the Soldier King". This portrait is postumous, as it is dated 1902. Like the gloves sticking out the jacket, a nice touch.
"The Embrace", ca. 1900 - 1910, by French sculptor Auguste Rodin (1840 - 1917), said to have been inspired by his lover and co-worker French sculptor and graphic artist Camille Claudel (l8 December 1864 – 19 October 1943).
