Lord Soth. I’m 32 years clean from D&D but I still appreciate the good times.

Francesco d’Ubertino Verdi, called Bachiacca. He is also known as Francesco Ubertini, il Bacchiacca. He was an Italian painter of the Renaissance whose work is characteristic of the Florentine Mannerist style. In 1540, Bachiacca became an artist at the court of Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici (reg. 1537-1574) and Duchess Eleanor of Toledo. In this capacity, Bachiacca was a colleague and peer of the most important Florentine artists of the age, including Pontormo, Bronzino, Francesco Salviati, Tribolo, Benvenuto Cellini, Baccio Bandinelli, and his in-law, the sculptor Giovanni Battista del Tasso.

I decided to use a cosplayer as the reference for this. I had a lot of fun painting it. So many challenging materials.

The Stolen Kiss is an oil painting on canvas historically attributed to the French painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard. Painted in the late 1780s in a style characteristic of the French Rococo period, it depicts a passionate kiss between two lovers. The composition is diagonal, made up by an axis composed through the woman’s leaning figure, the shawl, and the balcony door opening from the outside, ending with the table over which the shawl is draped. The painting is in the collection of the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The Circus (French: Le Cirque) is an oil on canvas painting by Georges Seurat. It was his last painting, made in a Neo-Impressionist style in 1890–91, and remained unfinished at his death in March 1891. The painting is located at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.

One Hundred Horses by Giuseppe Castiglione, painted in 1728. Collected by the National Palace Museum in Taipei, Taiwan. Today is Chinese New Year. In traditional Chinese culture, today marks the beginning of Horse Year.

There is this little sentence in Peter Pan that always had me. Tinker Bell gets the help of some “street fairies” to help get rid of Wendy. There is no description of street fairies. There are no streets in Neverland.

Have run across this guy in several stories over the past year and am intrigued by his grift and scumbaggery.

I couldn’t get my brain to do what I wanted to draw. That happens when you are trying to create something that hasn’t existed before. So I thought “what if I drew something that already exists?” How close could I get to an absolutely recognizable work? Can I do it without messing it up? Can I do it without fixing the “errors” in the original that no one notices unless they are not right in the head?

John Singer Sargent was an American expatriate artist, considered the “leading portrait painter of his generation” for his evocations of Edwardian-era luxury. He created roughly 900 oil paintings and more than 2,000 watercolors, as well as countless sketches and charcoal drawings. His oeuvre documents worldwide travel, from Venice to the Tyrol, Corfu, Spain, the Middle East, Montana, Maine, and Florida.

Turns out the live model painting has been delayed until June. I need a pallet cleanser from all the pencil drawings. Found this reference and thought it was fantastic.

I didn’t quite like how the bottom turned out. I tried having brown for dirt against the sky, but it was too dark. Then I went over it with green and all the way down to the bottom of the page. That looked too solid and square, so I went over with some yellow. I’ll have to look at more pictures and videos to get this better. I’m really looking to do this so I can paint a tree in the foreground.
