Rapid and transparent dissemination of nanoscience and nanotechnology research
The applications of nanoscience and nanotechnology have evolved rapidly over the last few decades and continue to have great potential to provide substantial benefits to society. Breakthroughs in fuel cells, vaccines, batteries, and construction materials, are all made possible through the successful implementation of nanotechnology.
Nanotechnology may also be vital in the efforts to combat environmental degradation. However, engineered nanomaterials with entirely novel characteristics also have the potential to create adverse environmental and health risks. The emerging range of nanomaterials and their variable nature mean such risks are still being understood.
The Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Gateway will cover major topics such as nano- and advanced materials, nanotechnology, applied nanoscience, nanomedicine, machine learning & AI, nanosafety, and safe- and sustainable-by-design approaches.
The Gateway aims to help the research community meet key challenges and accelerate the pace of discovery through the open sharing of fundamental and applied research, data and code. By adopting this approach, including the dissemination of useful methods and protocols, researchers can maximize the potential of their findings, collaborate across the various disciplines involved in nanotechnology, and improve our understanding of nanoscale materials.
Using the F1000Research open and transparent publication model, the Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Gateway provides researchers with a dedicated publishing venue to openly disseminate nanoscience research. The scope of the gateway includes, but is not limited to:
