I had a vision to do a piece in a scheme like this and finally located the right dresser to make it happen. I mixed paint and created this dark charcoal, almost black color, added long black pulls, black feet and a concrete print drawer liner. (Contains affiliate links!) HOW I DID IT: -removed hardware and cleaned with a degreaser -sanded to raw wood with a 120 then 220 grit and my @festool_usa sander! -applied a tan paint wash followed by the stain “antique oak” by @generalfinishes -topcoated it, hated it so went in with “van dyke brown” glaze by @generalfinishes to even out the color. Again the orange and shiny finish were not very pretty so here we go with another full transformation!!
Trying a new product by @rustoleum, their Glaze in the color Java Brown after applying a paint wash I made using my color Raw Wash (Woodandhomeaccents.com). After the glaze was dry I applied water base matte polyurethane @behrpaint . (A D) Here’s how I did it! + removed all the brass hardware & accents + scraped off all the old varnish with my carbide scraper + sanded off the remaining finish with 120 grit, working my way up to 220 + applied @realmilkpaintco wood wax into the inside of the chest to moisturize & renew the wood! It made such a difference + generously applied #realmilkpaintco soft wax in WHITE to the outside of the chest in a circular motion + I buffed off the excess white wax with a clean lint free cloth - an old teeshirt would work too! + Orange Wood Furniture, Lint Free Cloth, Orange Furniture, Furniture Flips, Orange Wood, Wood Wax, White Wax, I Did It, How To Turn
