Etymology
Related to Latvian lenta (“board, plank”), Proto-Slavic *lǫtъ (“linden bast”) (whence Russian лут (lut, “bast, bark of a linden”), also diminutive *lǫtъka), from Proto-Balto-Slavic [Term?], ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *lenteh₂; compare Albanian lëndë (“timber; matter”), Proto-Germanic *lindō (“linden”).[1][2]
