  • (Hulst) Attested as De 3 Gezusters, Drie Gezusters in 1838-1857. Derived from sluis (lock, sluice). The alternative name Drie Gezusters ("Three Sisters") refers to the hamlet's location next to a levee called the Drie Gezustersdijk.
