Borrowed from Classical Persian بیوقوف (bēwuqūf), from بیـ (bē-, without) + Arabic وُقُوف (wuqūf, standing still; study, knowledge). Compare Bengali বেকুব (bekub), Gujarati બેવકૂફ (bevakūph).
