[edit]

I've been looking at box plots in programming, and have run into the term 'flier' several times, apparently meaning 'outlier' or otherwise 'point lying beyond the whisker of a box plot'. See [1] and [2] for references in documentation, or even [3] where the author says "The fliers represent outliers". There don't seem to be a great many attestations of this sense, but the brazenness with which these authors have used it suggests it sees regular use. I would love anyone's thoughts on whether this sense is worth adding to the page. Lasmisme^ (talk) 04:16, 5 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
