Gresham is the fourth largest city within the state of Oregon, with a population just under 100,000. It's the home of an annual Jazz Festival. It is in the metropolitan area of Portland and is generally considered a suburb of that city.

Get in

By plane

Portland International Airport (PDX IATA) is located approximately 13 miles from Gresham. PDX is the largest airport located in the state of Oregon. Portland International Airports provides airline services through many companies.

By train

There is a local light rail train known as MAX. It runs through the center of Gresham and takes you through one of several possible locations. MAX extends its services from Gresham to Portland City Center and then off to Beaverton and finally Hillsboro. There is also a separate MAX line that goes to Portland International Airport and a third line that runs to the Expo Center. This is a great way to get around due to the heavy traffic on local freeways. TriMet's fare is $2.50 for a ticket good for two and a half hours on any combination of trains and buses, and $5.00 for an all-day pass. The MAX is a good way to get around and its ride is relatively pleasant.

By car

Get around

  • Oxbow Park, 3010 SE Oxbow Parkway, +1 503 663-4708. A great place to have family picnics, barbecues with friends, and swim in the river. There are many activities that take place at Oxbow Park. There are areas within the park that allow people to camp over night. Parking $5 per car.

Mt. Hood Jazz Festival

The Mt. Hood Jazz Festival is an annual jazz festival held each August in Historic Downtown Gresham, Oregon at 200 NE Hood Avenue. The festival is produced by the Gresham/Mt. Hood Jazz Festival is the signature production of the Association, which produces other jazz performances and workshops year round.

The first festival was first held in 1982 and has run 26 consecutive years. The festival has featured guests such as: Sonny Rollins, Dave Brubeck, Tito Puente and B. B. King.
