Redirect
[edit]This song is not notable. Per WP:MUSIC#SONGS, "Most songs do not merit an article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for a prominent album or for the artist who wrote or prominently performed the song. Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable."
Belief that the song will be notable at some point in the future is not a valid reason for an article.
If, at some point in the future, the song becomes notable, give it an article then.

- It's a single not a song, I thought singles were notable? Blackngold29 19:09, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah and you may call it predicting but EVERY single by the band has been in the charts as a lot of them have been nominated for awards so according to WP:MUSIC "Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts.... that have won significant awards or honors... are probably notable" because I'm sure it will. But I don't see the big deal about posting it now, why else would the {{future single}} template exist? REZTER TALK ø 19:21, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

- Singles are songs that have been released. See WP:MUSIC#SONGS. If/when it charts, it will be notable. Why the category? For the few singles that are notable before they are released, like Moving Mountains (song) and High Price. Most songs are not notable, even after they are released. Please direct any other discussion to AfD. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 20:53, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
First/Second single
[edit]Jsut wanted to poitn out that Roadrunner Records has said that it is their second single... source. Also All Hope Is Gone (song) charted in the UK, which declares it as a single so shouldn't these two articles reflect as such? REZTER TALK ø 01:07, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ya know what? This whole single thing is out of control and you do have a reliable source. So what the hell? I officially declare that I have no problem with "All Hope is Gone" being called the first single and "Psychosocial" the second single. Blackngold29 01:47, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Genre
[edit]This is clearly a nu metal song, and unless there are objections, it will be reclassified as such.Salex1093 (talk) 17:18, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- You need a reliable third party source to back that up. Blackngold29 17:20, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- The listed "source" for it being heavy metal doesn't mention the genre, so the classification of heavy metal is no more accurate. Salex1093 (talk) 17:27, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- You're right, but Amazon lists it as Metal. "Heavy metal" is a very wide range which includes nu metal. If you want to call it anything, including "nu metal", you need a source. Blackngold29 17:42, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough.Salex1093 (talk) 17:46, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Video
[edit]Says something about it being shocking, but not why. Describe the video plOx PXK T /C 02:05, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- It was unsourced and POV, removed. Blackngold29 02:44, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
yeah, but can someone actually describe the video? PXK T /C 20:42, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- Erm, why don't you watch it? Jasca Ducato (talk) 20:53, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
About the "breakdown"
[edit]Rolling Stone praised the song, saying that it "slows down the tempo to bludgeon with a steady, pounding groove instead of all-out thrash in a manner reminiscent of the band's more slow-burning but still malicious second album, Iowa." They went on to explain, "That track is capped off with a time-signature shattering guitar/drum breakdown that will leave the best air-instrumentalists stumped."
Whilst I agree that it is a matter of an opinion, the section in question isn't as "time-signature breaking" as the magazine claims it to be; it follows a simple 5+5+6/16 beat (or 5+6+5/16) that repeats 4 times (at least in the video-edit version), played in the same tempo as the rest of the song.
Just thought I'd bring that up; that section was bugging me a bit (especially when there are much more time-signature shattering songs than Psychosocial.)

Summary
[edit]Someone put the line "Psychosocial was on All Hope Is Gone, released august 26" this is stupid to have the album date listed before the single release date. i took it out, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.84.217.249 (talk) 05:45, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Time
[edit]Okay wtf some dumbass decided that the album length was 4:42, but the song length is 3:38. Occording to several sites, including itunes, that it is 4:42. I will modify. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.84.217.249 (talk) 05:48, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- The length of the single may differ from the length of the album version of the song. I can't confirm the time of the former, can anyone else? blackngold29 05:55, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Nu metal?
[edit]There isn't a source for nu metal and alternative metal. So thus, I took it off. You may add it when you have a source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.255.214.78 (talk) 22:27, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Lead and Rhythm Guitar
[edit]Watching live performances of the song, it doesn't appear that there is any designated lead and rhythm part since both Mick Thomson and Jim Root get a solo and throughout the rest of the song they are playing the same part. Should the personnel just be listed as guitar (and the first and second solo part)? HGP7 (talk) 19:42, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
