Clarke's birthplace[edit]

Infobox audio sample[edit]

The guitarist project box contains a field for an audio sample of a signature solo sample or guitar style from the guitarist. I can think of a couple of nominees but someone else's thoughts on which audio sample would be a "best fit" may likely be different than mine so it's open for any nomination. 156.34.142.110 13:10, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Snobs rehearsal studio?[edit]

I have first hand knowledge of this location in London at the time mentioned and I think this is incorrect - it's is being confused with the location Motorhead first practiced, Sound Management. As far as I'm aware, there was no rehearsal studio on the corner of Kings Road, Chelsea around 1975/1976 called "Snobs Rehearsal Studio". There was "Sound Management" which used a basement accessible from Kings Road near the corner (and leased from the Furniture Cave), and just around the corner in Lot's Road was "Manos", which used an upper floor leased from the Furniture Cave and where Donovan, Suzie Quatro and other RAK acts practiced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Indieshack (talk • contribs) 16:15, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Eddie's introduction to Lemmy[edit]

The article text mentions: "Clarke was working on re-fitting a houseboat, when he met drummer Phil Taylor,[3] who had recently joined Motörhead and introduced Clarke to Lemmy.". In Lemmy Kilmister's authorized biography, White LIne Fever, ^[1] he states that although both Eddie Clarke and Phil Taylor were working on a boat project, that was just a coincidence. It was actually the receptionist Gertie at the rehearsal studio that Motorhead was then using who introduced Lemmy Kilmister to Clarke, since she was dating Clarke at the time. In that case, feel free to change the article accordingly, @IndieShack. Lemmy's own published recollection of how they met is likely to be a more reliable source for how they met than The Guardian obituary currently cited. JezGrove (talk) 19:30, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I just looked back, and it was me who added the current reference to the story of how they met - I was just adding a newly published source to a claim that didn't already have one. Your source is better, so feel free to reword the article and to replace the citation I used in good faith back then with your own reference to Lemmy's biography. Eddie Clarke (musician) → "Fast" Eddie Clarke – I just thought of this from the RM. I think he's definitely better known by his stage name, as like "Weird Al" Yankovic. Rolling Stone obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [1], NPR obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [2], New York Times obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [3], The Guardian obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [4], ABC News obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [5], Pitchfork obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [6], BBC obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [7], Hollywood Reporter obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [8], CBS obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [9], Entertainment Weekly obituary: "Fast" Eddie Clarke [10]. And on and on. This is also a clear case of WP:NATURALDAB, although I would also argue that he'd be primary topic for Eddie Clarke anyway. WP:NICKNAME asks us to avoid the stylization including quotation marks "unless it is found in the name in the overwhelming majority of independent reliable sources." That's the case for "Weird Al" Yankovic, and also for "Fast" Eddie Clarke. 162 etc. (talk) 16:41, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
