[edit]So blatantly campcruft it's not even funny. I would nominate this for deletion or even give it a prod tag but as I've been accused in the past of showing too little patience, let me start with a NPOV tag. Pascal.Tesson 22:02, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Why?
[edit]Camp Rising Sun is a great educational institution of which the world should be proud of. It is a non-profit institution that operates on a scholarship basis giving boys and girls from around the world often once in a lifetime opportunity to live and learn in a truly international and intellectual environment. As an alumnus of CRS I am offended by marking this entry as advertising. Maciej Golubiewski CRS'91 C'99
Please Reevaluate
[edit]I would urge critics of this page to research the organization and its merits before labeling it as biased. One would find that there is very little in the camp experience that deviates from the text of this article. A greater understanding of the organization would benefit all Wikipedia users. Mariah Helgeson CRS'06
What about other camps called 'Camp Rising Sun'?
[edit]There are numerous other camps with the name Camp Rising Sun, should this lead to a disambiguation page? A Google search shows many camps called this, even leaving out the Christian 'Camp Rising Son' camps. Mattgrommes 20:15, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Copyrighted text removed
[edit]I've deleted a big chunk of text that was pasted in from the camp's brochure. The reason the article sounded like an ad was that... well, most of it was pasted directly in from an ad. :-) Sounds to me like there's lots more to tell about this camp, but please write it in your own words, as Wikipedia can't accept copyrighted text without permission from the author: see WP:COPYVIO for more info. Thanks, Technobadger (talk) 16:49, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
NPOV? Whole article reads like an ad copy.
[edit]Can someone please re-evaluate this article's status? It should be either cleaned up or deleted. Judging from the posts below it's been written completely by CRS alumni who are overly enamored with the subject and cannot maintain neutrality. I've tagged it as POV-Check in the meantime.
"CRS alumni have gone on to attend some of the world's finest colleges and universities" "Not surprisingly, almost all CRS alumni complete a four year university program and a very large number of alumni attend graduate or professional schools." "The self-confidence, the self-reliance, and skills which students acquire at camp inspire them to new heights of achievement. " "CRS campers have gone on to become leaders in professional, business, social and governmental careers. Successful CRS alumni have had distinguished careers as heads of government agencies.."
Where is this information coming from? Where are the sources? Where's the verifiability? Moreover, why does it read like a blatant advertisement? I know you guys like what the camp has done for you etc etc, but you need to express your opinions through an appropriate vehicle (of which there are many). Wikipedia is not that vehicle. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.230.164.150 (talk) 22:46, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- I am not a CRS alumni, though I am familiar with the camp. The posts "below" (I presume you mean above) refer to the article as it appeared in its earlier state, when it was copied verbatim from a camp brochure. I re-wrote the entire thing earlier this year, researching it extensively, which was not easy because most of what is written on the camp is from the camp or alumni groups. However, there were several articles, all of which are cited in the references section, should you care to look at it. Though you complain about a lack of sources, you only left "citation needed" tags in one section at the end. Interestingly, one of the tags you left was right in front of... a citation! Nonetheless, I deleted much of that section on alumni, since at the present time, it is impossible to come up with citations from news articles or other sources to fit the sentences I wrote. The list of alumni is probably sufficient to convey the point that I was trying to make, which had to do with the significance of the camp in people's lives. Like it or not, the camp is a unique place and it has made a huge impact in the lives of people who've gone there, more than a few of whom went on to important careers that affected others. This is the reason the camp is notable and worthy of a page on Wikipedia. Marrante (talk) 20:15, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Good revision.
[edit]I believe the additions and rewriting of the article have made it neutral and informational. It should be kept. Camp Rising Sun is a influential summer camp, and people should be able to find information on it via Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.63.76.180 (talk) 04:42, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- The article is no longer being considered for deletion. The claim now is that it's not neutral. If you feel that it is neutral, you can delete the tag at the top of the article. Having made most of the recent edits, I can't really do it as per WP:COI.
- I deleted your edits to the lede (or "lead") because the lede does not include any alumni names. Notable alumni and their professions are all listed in a special section at the end of the article. Aronofsky was already there, currently third on the list. Only names and professions are included because nearly all have their own articles where that information is more properly and more completely available. Marrante (talk) 06:30, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- Forgot to mention that where known, I also included the year or years the alumnus was at the camp. Marrante (talk) 06:35, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Alumni and Friends of Camp Rising Sun, Inc.
[edit]A validly and duly organized Camp Rising Sun alumni organization has a right to be referenced on this wiki page. This especially because a wiki page for this organization was deemed to be appropriately connected to the main topic, that, being Camp Rising Sun. Also wiki editors when they decided to terminate the wiki page for AFCRS made a redirect from that former page to Camp Rising Sun.Rsarlls (talk) 01:49, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
