=== Statement by Arglebargle79 === |

If you look at the 2020 presidential election page you will notice that it's not particularly good. The simple fact is, is that at this point in time, the campaign is all about President Trump, who like it or not, already has a campaign committee which is raising money and paying for rallies indistingishable from those he had last year. |
|||
For some reason Callmemirela and one or two others are horrified by this and keep deleting my good faith edits to improve the damn thing. Two candidates on the Republican side are on the "interested section" for the Republicans and one of them was joking. The other was one what might call, very minor and barely qualifies as notable. |
|||
There is a picture of Trump, but is in the wrong place, and so is the paragraph on incumbency which should be in the Republican section. I tried to change this but Callmemirela keeps on reverting my edits. I've tried to reason with him/her, but.... |

Thank you for the note Amortias. As for this case, I don't know why it's here. Firstly, this is a content dispute. It doesn't belong here. Secondly, Arglebargle79 has not attempted enough to resolve this issue. This includes going to the talk page extensively to come up with a solution or understand why it's being opposed, requesting RfC, going to a resolution board, seeking third opinions, etc. The only efforts they've done is readding their edits after editors opposed to them and continually (very little of it though and also weirdly) arguing their case on the talk page. They haven't bothered to reach a consensus at all. Thirdly, I am not the only party here. Other editors should be included. They have been told by numerous editors to also stop it. I don't know I'm being singled out. Also, this user seems to think that it's being opposed because we aren't fans of Trump. I wouldn't let my views and judgment come in the way of my editing. All in all, this is a content dispute and does not belong here. It belongs on the talk page. I have told ArgleBargle79 this plenty of times. Open up a discussion and, if you don't agree, go to RfC and not arbitration. This is clearly a content dispute, and on those grounds I urge the Committee not to take it as a case. Even if there were behavioral issues (and what content dispute doesn't come connected with behavioral issues?), they certainly hasn't come to fruition. This should be declined as per the above - It's a content dispute and therefore should be discussed at the relevant noticeboards, Also apologies for piling on but I figured it might help in some way ?, Thanks, –<span style="color: blue;">Davey</span><span style="color: orange;">2010</span><span style="color: navy;">Talk</span> 01:02, 24 March 2017 (UTC) |

Arglebargle79, your edit history is not extensive, so you are excused for misunderstanding, but despite its title, the Arbitration Committee does not arbitrate content disputes -- only longterm and as-yet-unresolved (despite many efforts) behavioral problems. Go back to the article's talk page, and continue to voice your concerns in a polite and collaborative way. Politics is a contentious area, so you have my sympathies, but Callmemirela is an experienced editor and I'm sure they will help you navigate the ins and outs of content-dispute resolution (and the different options available for that) if you ask. Remember that Wikipedia operates on consensus and policy, not on personal preferences, so your own preferences may not win the day even after content-dispute resolution is pursued. I hope that helps. *Arglebargle79 Have asked around for contrary views, but a quick review supports Callmemirela's argument re this being a) a content dispute, which is not a matter for Arbcom; and b) something that would need to go through several other stages of dispute resolution before it ended up here. Arglebargle79, if you disagree you're very welcome to add to your statement explaining why this request meets the preconditions for Arbcom consideration. Otherwise, suggest you withdraw it and try (perhaps) an RfC. -- Euryalus (talk) 23:02, 23 March 2017 (UTC) |

*The dispute resolution policy outlines that Arbitration is the last resort measure. Typically content issues are able to be resolved through mediation or community consensus building. At this point I would say it's a standard procedural decline and I would recommend the filing party to thoroughly read to arbitration if they believe they will need to come back here if DR does not succeed. About this page Use this page to request the committee open an arbitration case. To be accepted, an arbitration request needs 4 net votes to "accept" (or a majority). Arbitration is a last resort. WP:DR lists the other, escalating processes that should be used before arbitration. The committee will decline premature requests. Requests may be referred to as "case requests" or "RFARs"; once opened, they become "cases". Before requesting arbitration, read the arbitration guide to case requests. Then click the button below. Complete the instructions quickly; requests incomplete for over an hour may be removed. Consider preparing the request in your userspace. To request enforcement of an existing arbitration ruling, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement. To clarify or change an existing arbitration ruling, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification and Amendment. Guidance on participation and word limits Unlike many venues on Wikipedia, ArbCom imposes word limits. Please observe the below notes on complying with word limits.
