The institute was established in the year 1995 with intake capacity of 120 students in the each discipline of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, subsequently the intake was increased to 300 students in the year 2008 with Electronics & Communication (120) seats, Civil Engineering (120) seats, Mining Engineering (120) and introduction of Chemical Engineering (60) seats. Recently total intake of the institute reaches to 720 students with introduction of Environment Engineering (60), in the year 2009.

The Government Engineering College, Bhuj (GECB) is an AICTE-accredited engineering university in Bhuj, Gujarat, India.[1][2] It is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University.[1][2]
