Joe Hurst born , in Arkansas, is a retired professional basketball player.
In 1982 Hurst earned a sporting scholarship with Missouri. In five years he played more than 200 games, was all-conference representative for three years. During his last two seasons he was MVP and named in the All-American college team. [1]
Hurst holds the ‘shots blocked’ record in Colleege basketball, having blocked 153 shots in four years of college. He also once scored 59 points in a single game.[2]
Hurst commenced his professional career in Australia where he played for the Hobart Devils in the National Basketball League. With the Devils he was the NBL Most Valuable Player in 1988.[3]
He later played professionally for teams in Sweden, Iceland, Croatia, Indonesia and Portugal.[4]
It has been estimated that Hurst has played around 800 games of basketball. [5]
Hurst currently resides in Australia.
