An airstrike in the Dahieh neighborhood of Beirut, Lebanon, resulted in the assassination of Saleh al-Arouri, deputy leader of Hamas' political bureau and one of the architects of a Hamas attack on Israel. Along with al-Arouri, six other individuals including high-ranking Hamas militants were killed. An IDF soldier was moderately injured. The IDF claimed the four men in Azzun had barricaded themselves in a house and opened fire. The Palestine Ministry of Health confirmed the deaths, stating that Israeli forces took away the bodies.[6][7] Operations in the West Bank intensified after the Hamas-led attack on Israel on 7 October 2023.
