== Background ==
Like all other Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, FMVSS 126 is administered by the [[United States Department of Transportation]]'s [[National Highway Traffic Safety Administration]].

The standard establishes performance and equipment requirements for electronic stability control (ESC) systems.
