Tour

Why exactly can we not include the announced dates and locations for the album's promotional tour here? Obviously there is not enough material as of now to create a new article for the tour, but that doesn't mean we should exclude the information from Wikipedia altogether. Sricsi (talk) 20:48, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously there is not enough material as of now to create a new article for the tour,
That's basically why. The tour itself isn't super-duper notable on its own terms (yet) and so filling this article with data about it would be WP:UNDUE and WP:INDISCRIMINATE.
If it ever attracts enough attention in reliable secondary sources to justify its own page then that would be the time when including tables with setlists, dates, venues etc might be justifiable. But we don't generally include this stuff on album pages, even for major albums. Popcornfud (talk) 21:08, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, just to link it here as well, but MOS:ALBUM#Touring recommends we don't. Ss112 01:38, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both for clarifying. I would at least add a sentence that lists the four cities he's going to perform in. --Sricsi (talk) 07:21, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Release date

Here's a review in The Independent that suggests the album was released today. And here's a press release, at Gilmour's own website, that confirms it was. Martinevans123 (talk) 14:05, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, we didn't need those in the first place. You took issue with something nobody else has ever had an issue with. Up-to-the-day updates that an album release went ahead on the date the sources already present stated it would! Honestly. Ss112 17:03, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Personnel" x 2?

Why are there two "Personnel" sections? It seems like the short second section is a subset of the larger one. Am I missing something? EJSawyer (talk) 19:53, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Did David write lyrics or not?

The article states that this is the first album for which Gilmour hasn't written any lyrics since The Final Cut (1982). But the track listing shows "D Gilmour" as a lyricist for "Scattered". A little clarification, please? EJSawyer (talk) 20:01, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That claim has no source attached and looks like WP:ORIGINALRESEARCH to me. I've removed it. Popcornfud (talk) 20:32, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Choirs and Orchestra

We really don't need to list every member of the two choirs and the orchestra. The members aren't notable and including it is hardly encyclopaedic. – Dyolf87 (talk) 07:21, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I Have Ghosts

Should we consider adding "Yes, I Have Ghosts" to the album's track listing? My argument for it would be that it appears on almost all versions of the album and most notably CD, streaming, digital download. It also features on the BD and is only excluded from vinyl editions - and vinyl is hardly the predominant medium nowadays. The song should be included with the note "not on vinyl edition". What "officially" makes up the track listing is neither here nor there and the song, until now, had been a non-album single. There is, for example, no argument for excluding "Yes, I Have Ghosts" from Luck and Strange but including "When the Tigers Broke Free" on The Final Cut. – Dyolf87 (talk) 08:44, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If it appears on most standard versions of the album and isn't described as a bonus track (in press materials or by reliable sources) then I think it would be sane to include it. However I'm open to counter-arguments. There's a bigger question here about how we determine what a "standard" track list is, and that might be worth asking at WP:ALBUMS. Popcornfud (talk) 11:18, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's a bonus track and it should be listed as such, with the other one (on the CD), three (on the BD) or four (on the box set). The CD and Blu-Ray Disc, which I have, both have a "bonus tracks" headline above them.
  1. Yes, I Have Ghosts 3:50
  2. Luck and Strange (Original Barn Jam) 14:00
  3. A Single Spark (Demo) 5:46 [box set only]
  4. A Single Spark (Orchestral) 5:49 [Blu-Ray Disc and box set only]
  5. Scattered (Orchestral) 7:33 [Blu-Ray Disc and box set only] Jules TH 16 (talk) 07:39, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We don't include bonus tracks in track lists, see WP:ALTTRACKLIST. Popcornfud (talk) 11:28, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You cannot buy a CD of the album without "Yes, I have Ghosts" and the Barn Jam. They're also included on the download/streaming release, so the article currently only reflects the vinyl LP. I'm also not a fan whatsoever of that guideline - tons of Wikipedia articles I have extensively leaned on during my times of getting into various artists would've been far less useful in my exploration if that policy was already put in place then and I'm grateful that it hasn't existed then. Jules TH 16 (talk) 19:35, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, but "it's useful" isn't a good argument in favor of keeping content on Wikipedia. See WP:USEFUL: All encyclopedic content should be useful to someone, but not all content useful to someone is encyclopedic. You always have Discogs when you want to dive into discographies. Touring band revert

@Popcornfud: I'm writing about this revert. If you re-read the source, both the question and Gilmour's answer are explicitly about his last tour in 2016. I would point out the line "I changed one or two people during the middle of my last tour ..." in particular, and how the entire thing is in the past tense. The answer does not reference to his current touring band, nor does he say anything about how this impacted his 2024 touring band's lineup. The info belongs in Rattle That Lock Tour, not here.

I would also note that there's a separate Q&A in there about his 2024 touring band, where he says it is "Mostly the musicians who have been playing on the record are part of the new band."... Ed [talk] [OMT] 20:06, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, the text in the article was a misrepresentation of the source. Thanks for flagging and for explaining my mistake. Popcornfud (talk) 20:28, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
