Alexandra Baker (born 1982 or 1983)[1][2] is a British Labour Party politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Aldershot since 2024.
Early life and career
Baker received a Bachelor of Arts in Technology and History of Art from the University of Birmingham in 2006.
She began her career as a political officer for the Co-operative Party, and subsequently worked as a Co-operative Group membership officer.[3] Baker worked in several roles on the Battersea Power Station regeneration prior to her election to Parliament.[4]
Political career
Baker was elected as the MP for Aldershot at the 2024 general election, defeating her Conservative predecessor Leo Docherty.[5] She became the first non-Conservative to represent the constituency since its establishment in 1918, as well as its first ever female MP.[6][4] On 9 October 2024, she made her maiden speech in the House of Commons during a debate on the Renters' Rights Bill.[7]
Personal life
Baker has two children.[4]
