Map

What is this?

Do we seriously want this map? The glaring red color seems to suggest the entire eastern Mediterranean was overrun by Albanoi. The actual label "Albani" is so tiny you can hardly see it. The big glaring white overlay label almost obliterates the geographical context of where that label is. And why is it spelled "Albani" rather than the correct "Albanoi"? And what on earth is that dramatic-sounding exclamation "The Albani appear" supposed to mean, and why is it in extra quotes?

Seriously, people, how unprofessional can it get. Fut.Perf. 15:36, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your criticism. I will look into creating a new map, a proper one, and get back to you on that. For now at least, I think it should be kept. I think it also would be fitting to put a "needs update" template in conjunction.
Does this seem like a good plan? ArbDardh (talk) 15:52, 7 August 2019 (UTC)ArbDardh[reply]
Well, one further issue about having a map at all is, we don't really know where that place was, do we? We can't really point to anything much more concrete than "somewhere in what is now central Albania". We don't know how large the area occupied by that tribe was either – was it just the specific town of "Albanopolis", or more than that? What would this map show? Fut.Perf. 15:58, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should just place their area at Albanopolis. They may have inhabited a larger region, but with no sources to back this up, it may seem ambitious to assign such an area as a result.
The map would practically show said location of the tribe, but with improvements as per what you highlighted in your original comment. ArbDardh (talk) 16:20, 7 August 2019 (UTC)ArbDardh[reply]
Yeah, but we don't really know anything exact about where Albanopolis was either, do we? Fut.Perf. 16:28, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have taken this from the corresponding article, Albanopolis, "The editors of the Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World locate Albanopolis at the modern-day village of Zgërdhesh, near Krujë, Albania." ArbDardh (talk) 16:31, 7 August 2019 (UTC)ArbDardh[reply]
Yeah, but the same article as well as this one here also point out that that is basically just one hypothesis and by no means generally accepted. Fut.Perf. 16:47, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
