Operation Trap (Template:Lang-ru) was a code name of large-scale Soviet offensive operation against Mujahideen garrison of Kokari-Sharshari fortified supply base. The active stage of the operation has been launched in 18 August 1986 to clear out the rebel positions and surrounding areas with eventual intent to break a Mujaheddin logistics chain in northwest triangle of Herat Province in Gulran District[1][2].

After achieving the main strategic goal of the operation many participants have been awarded and promoted. It is interesting to note that the last event of promotion happened in December 2009 when Soviet/Russian military serviceman I. Daudi [ru] received a Hero of Russian Federation (a highest military title of Russia roughly equal to Hero of Soviet Union)[3].
