The Cambridge Mosque ("Cambridge Mosque") or Abu Bakr Siddiq Mosque is a mosque named after Abu Bakr, the first follower and father-in-law of Prophet Muhammad, on Mawson Road in Cambridge, UK. One of the imams is the chairman of the Cambridge Muslim Council[1] and fundraising manager of the Cambridge Muslim Welfare Society;[2] Sejad Mekić was from Bosnia which is also a British nationality.[3] The mosque is would be completed by the end of 2018.[4]

Cambridge New Mosque Project

The Cambridge New Mosque Project or Cambridge Mosque Project planned new construction of this Grand Mosque in the Mill Road neighbourhood, which is debated controversially in British public discuss.[5] The trustees of the Muslim Academic Trust[6] (which are registered Charity No. 1065784): Abdal Hakim Murad (Timothy Winter), Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), and Tijani Gahbiche have called for support.[7]

British-Cypriot singer, Cat Stevens, who has converted to Islam, expects support from Turkey for the Cambridge Mosque Project. The cost of the mosque project approximately amount to 20.3 million euros, which is a total of a thousand people could have space in the prayer room. Architects of the new mosque are David Marks and Julia Barfield (Marks Barfield Architects).[8]
