Early life

Cheralathan comes from a farming family in Tamil Nadu. He has one brother and two sisters. Of his farming background, he says: "Farming was all that was important to me while growing up. Even my brother is a farmer. We spent a lot of our young days working in the fields."[3]

Cheralathan's brother, D. Gopu, also plays in the Pro Kabaddi League, and is also a defender. This season, Gopu will be seen playing for Dabang Delhi.[3]

Pro Kabbadi League

Cheralathan played for the Bengaluru Bulls and Telugu Titans before he was bought by the Patna Pirates at auction during the fourth season in 2017.[3] Cheralathan sold for 29 lakh rupees, and was appointed captain of the Patna Pirates.
