He joined GMA Network in 1995, where he had his television break as one of the news anchors of the network's early evening newscast, Saksi; then he was transferred to the network's late-evening newscast, GMA Network News in 1999 and went back to Saksi after a few months. Personal life
Born Miguel Castro Enríquez on September 29, 1951 in Sta. Ana in Manila; the eldest of three children. Curious and "destructive to a certain extent" it describes his active childhood. He is very active in church, he was used to be as an altar boy and his ambition... To be a Fransican priest. However, his parents refused to sign a consent sheet that he would stay at the seminary until he become a priest. Instead he was enrolled at the De La Salle University, taking up AB Liberal Arts in Commerce.
Mike has been married with Lizabeth "Baby" Yumping for twenty-nine (29) years, but still childless. The couple really love children. So much so, that when Mike made his report in Imbestigador about a little girl who was hit by a stray bullet in the face while sleeping, he was the one that found out that a drunken policeman had fired the gun. Since then, formal complaints have been filed against the policeman. He has been named as one of the most child-friendly personalities by the Southeast Asian Foundation for Children and Television's Anak TV Seal awards for two (2) consecutive years.
He has remained in good health despite battling illnesses such as diabetes, asthma and hypertension.
