- Image is supposedly taken from the FCPS website, but I could not find any copy of the image on that website and I have never known FCPS to license any of their media freely. I suspect that this file was indeed taken from somewhere on the FCPS website, but that it is un-free. I certainly don't think that it is in the Public Domain, and as the uploader is new, I suspect they misunderstood what Public Domain means. Zell Faze (talk) 11:47, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

- File:Koch Cup Trophy.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs).
- This is a work of artistic silverware, and as such may need additional information on the copyright status of the object. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:13, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- We would need OTRS permission for the photo since the source is given as seascoutcup.org, the uploader's username suggests they are connected to the organisation but this needs evidence. January (talk) 21:21, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

- Author claims image is "fair use" for Northwestern High School (Hyattsville, Maryland), while stating in his rationale that he himself took a copyrighted image from an archive copy of a subpage of the school's website and then modified it and uploaded the result. Changing a copyrighted image and then using it to symbolize the owner of the copyright is in and of itself a violation of copyright laws. John from Idegon (talk) 22:13, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- Work of art in US, Later than 1923 so additional confirmation of status is needed. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:13, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- I thought that any public artwork installed before 1978 without a copyright notice is also in the public domain, just as it is on Commons. It was uploaded with the original plaque showing it was erected in 1950. File:The Chair of Thomasville plaque.jpg Dennis Brown | 2¢ | WER 22:21, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- Keep: Even ignoring the copyright notice issue, that it was installed in 1950 means to be copyrighted still it would have to have been renewed at some point. An inspection of the Copyright Office records for any entries under the name "Duncan Phyfe" or for works titled "Chair of Thomasville" returned zero results. Therefore, this work is in the public domain. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 22:35, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
- If this is accurate (and I believe in the good faith of these two editors) then we need to be more careful with public art deletions in the future.--Mark Miller (talk) 22:47, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
