Josh Gibson (21 December 1911 - 20 January 1947) was an African-American baseball player for the Homestead Grays and later the Pittsburgh Crawfords. He was the best hitter in the history of the Negro Leagues. Gibson was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
