A gorget is a patch of colored feathers found on the throat or upper breast of some species of birds.[1] The term derives from the gorget used in military armor to protect the throat. It is commonly found on hummingbirds, and especially the male hummingbird. Other birds, for example the Purple-throated Fruitcrow and Chukar Partridge also have a gorget.
