CKGF-2-FM
CKGF-FM-2 is a Canadian radio station that broadcasts an active rock format at 96.7 FM/MHz in Greenwood, British Columbia.
History
CKGF was origionally launched at 1340 AM/kHz in Grand Forks, British Columbia in June 1969. The call letters "GF" stood for Grand Forks.
In 1984, CKGF received CRTC approval to add new FM transmitters in Christina Lake, Greenwood and Rock Creek, British Columbia to rebroadcast the programs of CKGF Grand Forks. [1] The rebroadcast transmitters were on the air by the late 1980s. Around that time, CKGF began operating as a semi-satellite of CJAT in Trail. In 1993, CKGF began simulcasting programs of CKQR Castlegar.
On August 18, 2004, Boundary Broadcasting was authorized to delete the CKGF Grand Forks transmitter (already off the air). Programming for CKGF-1-FM Christina Lake, and CKGF-3-FM Rock Creek would now originate from CKGF-2-FM Greenwood. [2]
On January 16, 2007, Vista Radio Ltd. received CRTC approval to operate CKGR-FM-2 Greenwood on the frequency of 96.7 MHz. [3] Since CKGF Grand Forks is no longer operating, CKGF-2-FM Greenwood is now an FM radio programming undertaking and operates its rebroadcasters in Christina Lake and Rock Creek.
CKGF-FM is currently owned by Vista Broadcast Group.
