Paul Maher, Jr. is a teacher and author best known for his three published books about Jack Kerouac.

Biography

Maher grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the United States Navy and participated in the Gulf War. After discharge from the Navy, Maher was discovered to have stolen some rare books from the University of Massachusetts Lowell library. Upon detection, Maher confessed and returned the books.[1]

Maher attended the University of Massachusetts and earned a degree in American Studies and he became a secondary school teacher.

Scholarship

Maher has published three books on Jack Kerouac, including a collection of interviews, a biography, and a third work focusing on the composition of On the Road. Maher has also edited a collection of interviews with jazz legend, Miles Davis and has privately published two notebooks of American writer Henry David Thoreau. His books have met primarily favorable criticism.
