Isavia is the Icelandic airport administration. It is responsible for operating all public airports and air navigation services in Iceland.
History
The enterprise was founded in 1945 as Flugmálastjórn Íslands or the Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration to operate the airports and air navigation in Iceland. In 2006 the institution was split into Flugstoðir (Isavia), while the Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration will continue as a regulator and inspectorate. In 2010 Flugstoðir and Keflavik International Airport Ltd. were merged into a private limited company with 100 per cent state ownership, Isavia. Isavia now operates all airport facilities and air navigation services in Iceland, which includes about 30% of all transatlantic flights[1][2]
