Henry "Hank" Randall Baskett III (born September 4, 1982 in Template:City-state) [1] is a free agent American football wide receiver of the National Football League. He was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at New Mexico.

Early years

Baskett attended Clovis High School in Clovis, New Mexico and was an excellent student and a letterman in football, basketball, and track. In football, he was an All-State selection as both a wide receiver and as a punter. Baskett graduated from Clovis High School in 2001 with a 4.0 GPA.[2]

College career

Baskett was the University of New Mexico's leading receiver in 2004 and 2005 earning him the Reese Leroy Hill Memorial Award for being the team's Offensive Player Of The Year during those years, respectively. Additionally, he earned All-Mountain West Conference honors as a senior, posting 67 receptions for 1,071 yards and nine touchdowns. A four-time all-academic MWC honoree, he graduated with a degree in General Management.[3]

Professional career

Minnesota Vikings

He originally signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a rookie undrafted free agent in 2006 out of the University of New Mexico and was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for wide receiver Billy McMullen.[4]

Philadelphia Eagles

Baskett had 112 receiving yards and one touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys and 177 receiving yards and one touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons. For his performance in these games, Baskett was awarded rookie of the week honors. He completed his rookie season with 22 receptions for 464 yards (21.1 yards per catch) and two touchdowns.[5]

He was named the 2007 special teams MVP.[6]

In 2008 he started another six games playing in 16 to record 33 receptions, 440 yards, and three touchdowns, for a 13.3 yard average.

He headed into the 2009 offseason as a restricted free agent. He was tendered a one-year contract on February 23. Unfortunately, Hank Baskett was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on September 15, 2009. His season was short lived and hopes to sign with another team

Personal

Baskett married The Girls Next Door star and Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson on June 27, 2009.[7] Although it was initially announced that Hugh Hefner would give the bride away, Wilkinson stated that she was having second thoughts about having Hefner walk her down the aisle,[8] In the end, her brother Colin gave her away. In June 2009, the couple announced that they are expecting their first child, a son they plan to name Henry Randall Baskett IV, due on Christmas Day. [9]
