imeni Alexandra Kosmodemyanskogo (Russian: и́мени Алекса́ндра Космодемья́нского; Lithuanian: Šarkuva) is a settlement in administrative jurisdiction of Oktyabrsky City District of the city of Kaliningrad, Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, and, municipally, a part of Kaliningrad Urban Okrug. The name Metgethen (Метгетен), was changed in 1948 to Lesnoy gorodok (Лесной городок) and in 1949 to Lesnoye (Лесно́е). In 1956, it was changed to its current name. Population: 11,000 (2006 est.).[citation needed]

Metgethen in Prussia was first mentioned in chronicles in 1278. Until 1945 Metgethen was in the German province of East Prussia.

In 1945, during the Battle of Königsberg, a German counter-attack recaptured the settlement from the Red Army. The Germans discovered that the Red Army had carried out a massacre in the village while it was under temporary Soviet occupation.
